Another Award Announced for Groundbreaking Book

George McDaniel Becomes a 2023 Double Award Winner
McDaniel was recently honored for his groundbreaking book, Drayton Hall Stories: A Place and Its People, at the SC State House in Columbia.
State Dignitaries Present Award Governor Henry D. McMaster; Dr. Eric Emerson, State Historic Preservation Officer and Director of the SC Dept. of Archives and History; and William B. Fitzpatrick, Chairman of Preservation South Carolina.
Organizer of the awards program was Preservation South Carolina’s Director of Outreach and Preservation Joanna Rothell.
McDaniel was honored for his lifetime of work as an historian and preservationist, as exemplified by Drayton Hall Stories.
Earlier in the year, the Confederation of SC Historical Societies presented McDaniel with the Alexander S. Salley Lifetime Achievement Award. Read more about the Salley Award here.
