This information is provided to mcdanielconsulting.net in the aggregate, i.e. it is not identifiable to a specific individual.

Mcdanielconsulting.net collects this information so it may better serve its visitors by responding to requests and comments and by creating content that visitors enjoy.

Its goal is to protect user’s personally identifying information (PII) and hold businesses to a higher standard when it comes to how they collect, store, and use this data.

Areas on this website that are impacted by GDPR: This website uses plugins that store or process data, specifically comments, contact forms, Akismet to reduce spam, and Google Analytics for our website’s performance analytics; GDPR compliance is active on these plug-ins. 

Comments Consent: By default, WordPress used to store the commenter’s name, email and website as a cookie* on the user’s browser. This made it easier for users to leave comments on their favorite blogs because those fields were pre-populated. Now, due to GDPR’s consent requirement, WordPress has added the comment consent checkbox (sample below). You can now leave a comment without checking this box. This means that you would have to manually enter your name, email, and website every time you leave a comment. If you opt-in to saving your name, email address and website so that you won’t have to fill in your details the next time you leave a comment, the associated cookie* will last for one year. Note that when you leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

 

Contact Forms: Though we are not using the data for marketing purposes at this time, we have added extra transparency measures to our contact forms by asking for explicit consent to store your information (see sample below). We retain your contact information for as long as necessary to answer your request. We generally keep data from contact form submissions for 30 days. Should you decide you prefer your data to be exported or deleted, we will quickly respond. See “Data Export and Erase Feature” in the following paragraph.

 

Data Export and Erase Feature: WordPress enables site owners like us to comply with GDPR’s data handling requirements and honor user’s request for exporting personal data as well as removal of user’s personal data. Google Analytics: This website uses MonsterInsights, the Google Analytics plugin for WordPress. MonsterInsights has released a GDPR compliance addon as well as manual features that take care of the majority of required configuration changes, including anonymized IP addresses and disabling the Demographics and Interests Reports for Remarketing and Advertising. Mcdanielconsulting.net has applied these configuration changes to its website that pertain to the required GDPR compliance. Note that we keep these anonymized analytics records for a period of  three years in order to track and compare our website’s performance from year to year and to respond to any needed changes or adjustments, e.g. to our content or our website’s functionality.
