DRAYTON HALL STORIES
VIDEO ARCHIVES
“The challenge of telling a more complete story is not limited to Drayton Hall.” – George McDaniel, 1995
This clip from “I’d Like to See What’s Down There”, captures McDaniel’s long-held belief in the power of documenting and sharing the voices that have shaped our historic sites. Produced by Coastal Carolina University and Drayton Hall, broadcast on the History Channel, and now a much acclaimed new book, “Drayton Hall Stories: A Place and Its People.”

Take an unexpected approach for your website and/or social channels by using your images in compelling ways.
We chose 200+ images to form a “video mosaic” of Drayton Hall’s iconic main house.
Video is an effective format that can be shared across channels. You can film your video on location or even in your own backyard using only a smartphone – be especially mindful of location, lighting, and sound.
Lay the groundwork for your project by filming your project leader describing the history of the site and why it matters to your community. Intersperse it with historic images to capture why people should care and include interviews with those who have a special connection to its history and preservation. This is the video you will use again and again throughout your project to help educate staff, volunteers, other community partners and organizations, donors, the media, and others.
Use your video skills to create an effective fundraising video that gets results, a top priority. You’ll begin by defining your audience, preparing your strategy, and drafting your talking points. Check out our Fundraising Guide for more.
